- Serious old school cake with better leaves than average (some old tree too)
- Powerful, deep and long aftertaste
- Rich, good texture and aromas
- Advanced and clean Malaysian storage
A very rare example of aged puerh (good % of old tree) well stored in Malaysia since almost 25 years. Selected by a very expert tea master (Lin Ping Xiang) for its ageability, power and good value too. Matching quality calming Qi to complete the package.
Pressed around year 2000, while the storage is very clean it’s also very advanced, it drinks a bit older than its age would suggest (could easily pass for a dry stored mid-90s cake). We only have a few cakes, don’t miss it if you’re into aged puerh of this era. Can be aged further or drank now as a very powerful yet refined semi-aged puerh.
Approx ~357g cakes, some weight loss over the years.

Very satisfying. Looks almost like a shu cha because of the advanced aging (malaysian storage), but there’s absolutely no question it is a strong sheng Pu Er fit to age further. Somewhat smoky at first, with hints of tobacco and (in later infusions) of cooked or dried mirabelle plum, it reminds me a bit of some (very clean) special order xiaguan/baoyan cakes of approximately the same year(s). I think I’ll let it age slowly and come back to it at regular intervals.
