Sharing excellence

Highlights:

  • Powerful calming Qi
  • Savoury semi-aged taste profile, with good strength
  • Excellent price for 1990s sheng puerh with high quality leaves
  • Taiwan natural storage: drier version

This is mostly a strong Qi tea at an excellent price, with the added bonus of a quite unique savoury (as opposed to sweet) taste, with good depth, medium aftertaste and complexity.

There are a lot of this “Red mark” cakes, this has the name of “Ji Pin” because the leaves used are much-better-than-average quality and they’ve retained very good strength despite the aging.

~357grams cake, some weight loss over the years with aging.

In terms of quality alone it certainly cannot compare with some ‘top of the shelf’ teas you’ll find here, but the price makes it impossible not to give five stars, particularly if you account for the aging potential this tea still has without a doubt. Quite deep, complex enough, it’s a bargain. I strongly recommend it.
