Sharing excellence

  • Pure big/old tree Yiwu
  • Punchy old-style Yiwu with good thickness, huigan, durability, complex aromas
  • Traditional processing (great for further aging)
  • Direct from CYH excellent storage

This tea is the best of the “Cang” (“hidden”/”secret”) series of 2007-2013 Puerh by Chen Yuan Hao, we’ve obtained a large quantity directly from the brand and are selling it at much lower than its normal price. Coming directly from CYH, authenticity and clean storage are even more fully guaranteed than usual.

Although we’ve seen other websites selling this tea as “ancient tree” that’s obviously not the case (the price would need to be 3x higher if so), it’s just that the level of pure ancient tree is so rare that most people are confused about this. This tea is pure big/old tree which is a very high quality standard already, and at this price it’s almost impossible to find 2024 tea of this quality, never mind with 16 years in CYH’s own storage.

Overall, this is a pretty good drinking experience now, with the classic soft but also strong-bodied Yiwu profile, some ‘sweet’ calming Qi, good patience and very strong aroma but also has excellent aging prospects. We have many tongs of this tea in our storage because of how confident we are in it. There’s a special price for buying one tong (6 cakes) and a cake, not only you get one cake for free but also an additional discount, strongly recommended.

Big 357g cake (minimal weight loss over the years). Tongs are 6 cakes each.

It’s impossible to be disappointed with this tea. It feels quite young still (there’s a certain level of astringency and bitterness, the soup retains a noticeable complexity) but also feels like it will age in a beautiful way. I recommend quite short brews in the beginning of the (long, durable) session, unless you like it punchy. Last but not least: at this price it’s obviously 5-stars.

The qi is even and comfortable but it is heavy, like I’m wrapped up in a lead blanket. This is the one area where this experience really shines.

Most other dimensions assessed are good, though not rockstar level. This includes thickness, strength of kuwei, flavor intensity, complexity, staying power/how many infusions, aftertaste, and aroma. No flaws. Hui gan is average and some mild astringency was noticed, though it is not lacking in any area.

A Yiwu tea of great typicity, as well as good durability and strongish qi. Not quite a match for the 2014 Cha Wang, though surprisingly close!
