Like the other 2″Hao”s (reproduction of famous tea factories of old), Jing Chang is a CYH powerhouse: tea made with traditional processing to be aged, it now has thick taste with both sweetness and satisfying bitterness, powerful calming Qi and a lot of patience.
In our opinion, it can age further because there’s plenty of bitterness and a hint of astringency left to transform. A great option both if you enjoyed the other two Haos we offered, or want to own the most affordable but still recognised as very high quality Chen Yuan Hao of the first years (2003-2005)
Note: in the early days of the storage of this tea there were some of the normal insects found in puerh, the tong has been stored dryly for the last few years and there’s no foreign tastes that we can detect.
There’s still a bit of bug poop on the surface, you can simply brush it out with a toothbrush (we didn’t want to open the cake to keep the wrappers intact, but it’s easy to do). This is pretty normal in aged puerh and everytime you see holes in a wrapper it’s insects that chewed it. The price has been lowered to compensate for the small inconvenience. If in doubt, please try a sample first.
