From Bulang, we picked real 100% pure ancient tree leaves that would normally be a bit too bitter as sheng puerh, so we made into a great shou puerh that maintains a great pleasant strength but makes it really balanced, with thick and rich liquor.
The Qi is as you’d expect: in-your-face strong but very calming as well given its shou-ness transformation.

We’ve been privileged to offer a few truly groundbreaking teas, this is yet another never-done-before-in-history series of teas that changes the understanding of the whole category:
- Only 100% pure ancient tree leaves. Not “old tree”, not mixed.
- Mountain spring water fermentation made by the most experienced Shou puerh master we could find
- About 75% fermentation for the optimal balance of dark, rich taste with cleanliness
- Aged until there’s minimal fermentation smell and flavour (wodui) left

I’m writing this on the day the tea arrived from Paolo and Una – hence a cautious 4 stars until I’ve had more sessions on different days
I’m on brew #5. My initial feelings are:
– the taste is clean and rich, really thirst quenching and leaving a lovely sensation/taste echo afterwards
– the mouthfeel is superb
– the aroma is so much cleaner than many Shous I’ve had before
– The Qi feels good. I think its accurate to call it calming as I’ve had a busy day
with much multitasking and demanding activities
