Highlights:
- Old bush Oolong
- Thick and rich texture (very rare for oolongs!)
- Strong huigan (returning sweetness)
- Impressive Qi
- Unique baking method gives its incredibly robust characteristics
- Really high skill production technique
Obviously, we don’t source oolong and although I drink top oolongs occasionally this is the very first time I feel like I must share one, it’s that good.
Three things stand out about this tea:
- It’s from natural farmed 40-50 year old bushes in a perfect environment
- The rare high temperature baking in a pizza-like oven requires a lot of skill to do well and many years of rest before it’s ready to consume
- The rest of the production technique (from frying to hand rolling) is also very high skill and flawless
The combination is a tea that is simply has so much better texture, stronger huigan and better Qi than any other taiwanese oolong I ever tried.
Our source has commissioned the whole production of this tea exclusively and aged it themselves since 2013. Unfortunately, the old bushes have since been destroyed by a ravine and the tea master died, so this is never going to be replicated.
