Xi Zi Hao production from Mengku Da Xue Shan, idyllic land of pristine jungle with an abundance of wild-growing, unmanaged old trees.
A website put the age of trees at “700-1300 years” which seems rather optimistic, though you can certainly taste and feel that it contains a significant amount of unmanaged ancient trees in the blend.
From tasting, the tea obviously contains a significant % (perhaps 100%) of wild puerh varietals, if you are not sure if that’s your thing, I suggest buying a sample first.
Large amount of spring buds makes for a complex and bright tea with still a fair bit of astringency and strength and therefore plenty of room for transformation. The tight compression of the cake has preserved a lot of its character.

I’m glad I had the opportunity to sample this tea. The processing and material is clearly very good quality. And it is unique from other boutique puerhs that I have tried. It has very smooth and sweet notes that are similar to a very good black tea.

The description says that this tea is from ancient arbour wild trees and i think it has a depth and character that could only really come from those trees. Quite complex and interesting. The name Spring Dew describes it quite well if you can imagine that clean fresh environment where the trees grow.
Good storage, as with all of these teas, has only enhanced good material.

This tea is not for me. It had a herbalness to it with sharp bitterness and powdery feeling. It reminds me of a moonlight white tea
