Highlights:

  • Mid 90s sheng puerh (raw)
  • Clean dry/natural Taiwanese storage
  • Rare opportunity to drink 90s 7542 without the usual price tag
  • Strong smooth taste, good huigan and aftertaste
  • Calming (but quite intense) Qi

The smart choice to drink the legendary 90s 7542 at about 20% of its usual price as cake (!), for those whoe like to drink the tea and not the wrapper. Even when sold as chunks, the price is usually about twice as much as ours.

The 7542 recipe from 80s and 90s is the benchmark for all aged factory puerh for a good reason, it delivers a classic ‘strong and smooth’ taste that generations of Puerh lover have found to be the pinnacle of sheng puerh.

We have less than 2kg of this, the chunks were at the bottom of a box full of mid-90s 7542. Great storage too, minimal time in HK then between dry and natural in Taiwan – very clean but well aged (feels more like early 90s when drinking but we think this tea might be more from mid 90s).

25g (~0.88 ounces), 75g (~2.64 ounces), 250g (~0.55 pounds) bags.

1 review for 1990s 7542 Chunks

  1. Tim P –

Tasted from an 8g sample composed of loose leaves (no chunks) and smaller particles. Infuses very quickly – only needs a few sec to produce a dark mahogany soup. Its ageing in a broken-up state means that it resembles an older tea, though is still quite powerful, particularly in the first 4-5 infusions. I didn’t find this the most characterful tea and the qi wasn’t particularly strong or notable (though that could just be my particular sample). Nonetheless, it offers good, clean(-stored) fun, even if it isn’t my favourite 90s tea.
