This is a pro choice for old tea for experts. Rare (low production), less influenced by speculation because of this (1970s Menghai Tea Factory starts at $10k+!), and the storage on this one we have is really perfect. The leaves are older tree than state factories productions of the time, most likely from FengShan, Lincang which didn’t have many plantations at all (majority of expert opinions). I can’t put it any other way better than this: for the person who has access to all the old Puerh in the world, this is one of the teas you would actively drink.

You could buy this brick cheaper with HK storage but this has nothing of that, it’s utterly clean. Taiwanese dry storage for most of its life. Also note that often 1980s Lixilong brick are sold as 1970s, but the 1980s really are a forgettable tea (50%+ shou fermentation, and not as great material either).

This tea has a 10-25% fermentation at the beginning, which makes it much closer to a sheng (raw) puerh than a shou (cooked). Indeed, because of the dry storage anybody would think this is sheng puerh as it has overall less shou-feeling that natural stored sheng puerh (in other words: it drinks and feels more like sheng puerh than most sheng puerh of the age).

To put it in context, this is the same level of fermentation most antique (1900s-1950s) tea had, we don’t know whether it happened in the travel from Yunnan or in some cases it was even done on purpose but most HaoJiChas (tea of this era) are not fully sheng either but have fermentation like this tea. This is pretty clear when one drinks dry stored versions of HaoJiChas and it’s accepted knowledge among the most experienced tea people in Malaysia/Taiwan.

I’ve gotta say. This tea is truly special. I’ve had 2 sessions with it so far. One by myself and one with company. 4g is enough to get a massive qi hit. Less will probably work too. Head, chest then whole-body qi. It took me back to my childhood innocence and made me all giddy too. Very tea drunk sessions, almost spilling some cups haha.

Tbh I don’t have the best health atm and this tea still was able to rock my world. Sometimes a tea can show you that glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for sharing this one with the world. Everyone will have a slightly different experience with the qi, but I find that the best teas will make you feel euphoric like your happiest moments/memories.
