Sharing excellence

ZiNi Yixing clay (original ore) aged and held in private reserve, multi-hole filter. This clay mixture contains 2% taiwanese clay to give its characteristic silver colour (a formula of HZT’s own making). This clay resembles the legendary Tian Qing Ni which has been prized as the best of ZiNi clays for its more refined effect on teas: adding sweet-thickness without being overly muting.

“High firing temperature, good hardness, fine clay texture, suitable for all kinds of teas, especially tea with different flavours.” – He Zhong Tai (also a master puerh brewer in his own right). We find this clay is particularly suited for semi-aged Puerh and is generally quite versatile, what we would call “light zini” (that’s to say with less “rounding” and “muting” effect that the Lao Zini has). Also suitable for other teas like roasted oolongs, aged oolongs and black tea.

This is a unique teapot fully hand pinched by the master himself. About 6 of these can be made in a month, and 1 or 2 will break in the firing on average. Occasionally, a teapot won’t pass his extremely stringent proportion and harmony standards and will be rejected too. The availability of these works of art is very limited and we often go many months between receiving new stock.

The attention to detail is stunning, the clay is excellent, the harmony of proportions and overall beauty is perfect, and it really has a spirit of its own. Master He Zhong Tai full introduction. We’re extremely pleased to be able to offer these teapots to western tea lovers at lower than their price in China.
